Air Asia: The Curse of the Tune Hotel

Labours Day holiday was officially a getaway for me.
I had a ‘Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan Trip’ to Penang with my family.

3 days 2 Nights.
1st night stayed in Butterworth and in Penang for the 2nd night.
The highlight of this trip was of course as I’ve mentioned
....Food Glorious Food!!!!!!!!!!!1

Remember my entry condemning Air Asia last year?
Well, consider this as the SEQUEL of that entry...

We’ve heard how ‘EVERYBODY CAN FLY’ using Air Asia.
We’ve heard how they can deceive their customers by luring us with this tag line
‘FLY TO __________ FOR FREE’ and we could end up paying more than RM100++.
We’ve heard how we should buy our tickets few months prior to the trip date
so that we can get
‘super cheap’ ticket.
Later, we’ve heard that they have hotels and they proudly name them ‘TUNE HOTELS’

However...little that we know that the hotels’ booking system is exactly the same as the flights’.
First come first serve basis.
The earlier you book, the cheaper price you’ll get.
And in the website.....Muaxs! Marvelous!
The rooms look superb! Superb! Superb!

Unfortunately, we didn't book early enough that we had to pay quite an amount of money for our rooms....
Yes, we reserved 5 Air Asia’s Tune Hotel rooms.

Okay...are you ready for this?:

1. Upon arrival we were told that only one car could park at the parking lot
(what? We reserved 5 rooms and only one car could go in?)
2. The lobby is pathetic
3. Went to our rooms and found out that:
a. they have air-cond b. they have hair dryer
c. a queen sized bed (not friendly to those who are 5’8)
d. they have ceiling fans
e. no towels
f. no shampoo
g. no shower gel
h. half transparent bathroom door
i. there’s Wifi
j. there are advertisements all over the room including the toilet
k. no wardrobe only a railing and 2 hangers and...just see the pics and you’ll know4. With a little disappointment, I turned on the air-cond and.....it wasn’t working!
5. I tried the hair dryer and it wasn’t working as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6. I never knew that we had to pay extra to use the air-cond, hair dryer and Wifi!!!!!!!!!!!!
7. Air-con charge: RM13++ for 12 hours and RM20++
8. If you want towel, you’ll have to pay RM15 to rent it!

Yeah...it was our fault.
We didn’t read the hotel description given in the website.
But still...
This pay-as-you –use system sucks!
5-star sleeping experience at a 1-star price?
Such an irony...

Tune Hotel of Jalan Burmah, Penang had successfully made me sinful
due to excessive cursing ....

If my 1st entry on Air Asia tag line was: Everybody Can Wait
The tag line for this one would be: Everybody Can Curse

Damn Air Asia!

*ad next to the bathroom door

*ad in the toilet

*ad at the bathroom door

*ceiling fan's ad

*this is the ceiling fan

*ad outside our room

*1 hr 00 min left for air-cond and hair dryer (not paid)

*mini queen size bed

*pay-to-use air-cond

*see thru bathroom door -censored

*ad right in front of of our room

*I'm impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still deciphering

All my life I have always enjoyed holiday.
A teacher have always been envied by her non-teacher friends.
Why?
Because she has more than 100 days holi-DAYS a year.
Tell me about it.
I am a teacher.
So I know.

It's school holiday now.
1 week.
For the first time in my whole life....
I am not excited at all!

Everybody went back to their hometown.
I am left all alone here.
I have lots to do.
Well, that's not a good reason for not going back.

I'm tired.
I do miss my friends and family in KL.
I do miss them.
Only God knows how I miss them.

I've done a lot of thinking this few days.
And somehow I'm stuck when it comes to 'HOME'.
I have had one entry about home a few years ago in my old blog.
The same old question still haunts me.
Where is my home?

I have been missing the feeling of home since dad passed.
Then it became worst when my family moved to another state.
There goes my hometown.

How in the world can I call a place that I've never known my 'HOME'?
Yes, I do visit my mom and sisters but there is no home anywhere for me.
The only thing left in my hometown is my Dad's grave and all the memories I had with daddy.

Some say, 'Home is where you are understood'
Some even say 'Home is where your heart is'
Small kids will definitely say 'I want to go home..I want mummy and daddy'
Mummy and Daddy are their home
I know where I am understood, where my heart is, where my mummy and where my daddy is...
But the problem is....none of that places makes me feel home.
Not even the place where I am sitting now!
The irony is, up to now, whenever I dream of my family,
I always dream of us in our old house back in Labuan.
The house that we rented back in 1988 - 1996.

I guess I'm not the only one having such dreams.
Probably because those were the happiest days of our lives.

Sometimes, I'm blaming dad for 'leaving' us too soon.

Somehow, when I thought of all the orphans who never had moms and dads,
I do envy them coz they'll never get to miss having the feeling of being home coz they never had one.

On the other hand, I'm thankful I had one.

What say you?

I'm still deciphering...
Deciphering adulthood...

Like a Rockstar

It's been a while since I last posted something that can be digested by you.
Been busy lately.
Nothing much happened for the past few months.
Except for me being 3 tones darker......*blegh
There goes my whitening products....
Blaming it on the sports day last week....
Same day they announced SPM result.
But who cares....we won the whole sport.
Our team won!
BLUE TEAM WON!
We are the champion!
Who's the teacher?
I say....who's the teacher?
As long as I am the teacher...I will make sure that my team embraces victory forever and ever..and ever...

Okay,
Will you ever believe me if I said I can run?
Had it not been for the desperation due to lack of female teachers in our team,
I wouldn't know I could run that fast.
It was unbelievable!
This proves it....

*Please read the following sentence Phua Chu Kang way...
Silver medal I tell you!

Physically stressed and exhausted right now.
But my soul still rocks like a rockstar.....huhu!

What was this entry about?
Oh ya....
To congratulate my students for their super achievement in their SPM

*behold are the top achievers posing for local press

Dear students,
Go....go sail the ocean of ambition,

And I pray that you will harbour at the port of success.
Been there, done that....
I know it'll be tough.
But y'all will survive somehow =).
It's just that
Y'all still have a long way to go dearie...

Ahem...
Dear readers,

Y'all will be reading more from me soon....

Thousand apologies for my absence

SMK DPHA Gapor Stampin: Chapter 1

SMK Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor Stampin Kuching.
Did my Upper Six there 9 years ago.
Was only there for 8 months.
My first experience being in boarding school.
My family was in Labuan and being in Kuching all alone wasn't easy.
My big sis was in Kuching as well but we're not close.
Asked my bro-in-law to bring me there yesterday coz he's teaching there.
Here's a glance of how it looks like now.

School Logo.

School Hall.
Dewan Semesta

School Field.
I still remember that Handsome Number 9 football player from St. Joseph.
Dang!

PSS -Pusat Sumber Sekolah.
School Library

My Bro-In-Law's car sticker

Sarawak, Malaysia, SMK Dphag Stampin's flags

This was once Blok C.
Girls' Hostel.
It has now become Aspura Cemerlang.
Boys' Hostel.
View from the Prefects' verandah.
See that square little building down there?
Flashers liked to flash their 'tantalau' there.
There was one time where one of them flashed it at nite
and we threw Durian skin towards him.
I remember saying "Apa polah waktu malam? Kedak ney kamek orang maok nangga?"
Translation: "Why flash at nite? How can we see it?"
=p
The rest is history

Bathroom.
I still remember the black tragedy that happened here.
Only Getrude and Yoyo know....

C3.
My room.
Shared with another 15 girls.
This wall used to have mural.
Will scan the evidence once i get back to N9.

Ugraded Dining Hall
Wow!
Impressive!

My class was the third window from the left.
From this view....fourth from left.

Canteen
The blue public phone used to be the phone I used to call my dad.
Curi line some more.

From what I remember, this school had the worst toilets ever.
But had the coolest students.

Ahem...ahem...
Mind you, the reputation changed when the new principal came
and the hostel became the best school hostel in Sarawak twice.
TWICE I tell you *apek style o f talking
And they even have 5 stars toilets now.......

I wonder what happen to my other schoolmates?

What is the significance of Air Asia?
"Everybody can fly"?
I guess not...
It should be
"Everybody can you please wait?"

Our flight to Kuching were delayed for almost 2 hours.
Almost.
Did I mention we were delayed twice?

Now, this DUMB DUMB Air Asia has a new policy.
If the flight is delayed for more than 2hours,
they will compensate each affected passenger with RM200 GIFT voucher.

Guess what, I just knew about this when I read the flight's mag JUST NOW.

Here's where I can call them CLEVER.

When I suddenly realized
we were delayed for 1h 40mins...on the ground
1st time the flight came late.
Then 2nd time something wrong with one of the tyres.
Then later they asked us to board the flight....
while they were still fixing the tyre
and ended up waiting for another 30-40mins?

Want to know why?
I guess they want to avoid giving gift vouchers.
So, they urged us to board the flight.
Which means we are going to depart....
IN 30 MINS TIME?
Evilly Clever (is there such adverb? who cares)
If my maths is correct, that equals to about 2hrs 20mins of waiting!!!

Enough with the delayed matter.

While waiting I suddenly missed my hometown Labuan.
Haven't gone back for 6 years.
Haven't seen dad's grave for 6 years.
Family all in Sarawak.
I can't believe my eyes when I saw this:

Our boarding gate to Kuching was next to Labuan's boarding gate.
I looked around and saw a few familiar faces from Labuan.
My ex-schoolmate from primary school.
My ex-classmate's parents.
My 'delayed' issue was CALMED down by the word 'Labuan'

Thank God I had my Sister and Bro In Law with me.
They were in KL to attend their church's national convention.
Here's the tired looking me.
Actually the 'no make up on' me...
lol
Aaaaahhhh..........
What can a delayed flight do when one can devour a big and scrumptious DURIAN in one shot?
*biggest DURIAN I've ever seen in my 28 years of living!
